This was very sad news, I hope the best for his family and friends, he brought a lot of happiness to many people and his music will live on, but it is hard to know that he won't be able to make his mark on the Avatar sequels along with other films.
One thing that I learned after his passing, is that one of his earlier works was the sound track of "The Land Before Time" I watched that many times as a young child.

Kaltxi Wind!

I too didn't realize until recently that James Horner did the score for "The Land Before Time". I always liked the music in that film -- I always thought it was beautiful and it moved me to tears at times, so in a way I'm not surprised that James Horner was the composer on it.

i was watching the James Newton Howard music featurette on the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 blu-ray disc, and the haunting strains of the Katniss reflections music so much reminded me of some of the music of the late great and sorely missed James Horner. i am still so sad at the shocking and sudden passing of this hugely talented artist.

He will be missed for a long time. :( He had a great talent that he shared with the world, whom ever they find to do the score for the sequels will have huge shoes to fill.
